At this time of year, X can only stand for one thing: Xmas (or Christmas, if you’re more semantically inclined). One of my favorite Christmas spots is the lobby of the Hyatt Embarcadero in San Francisco’s Financial District. As you can see, it’s pretty magnificent!

Hey Drew … it was the only word I could think of that began with X.
When I was a kid, Mom used to say that spelling Christmas with an X was showing disrespect for the baby Jesus. She didn’t say what the adult Jesus thinks of it.
I think adult Jesus will be much more forgiving.

It’s very Christmasy, and it’s really beautiful. Children can’t believe it, but we adults really appreciate how beautiful it is!
There is no country that can make public Christmas decorations like US can. You’re world champions … but private houses can be terrible over the top – and tacky. You have captured it gracefully.
Hi Viveka … and San Francisco does a really great job of decking itself out at Christmas (look for a big photo gallery very soon). Agreed … houses can be too over-the-top. I love cities at Christmas!
