The Small People Art Of Geraldine Alibeu

I came across the wonderful work of French artist Géraldine Alibeu on a French art website, and I was immediately attracted to her interesting style. At times she’s whimsical and fanciful, while at others she’s dark and strange … like me!

I wish I could give you more info about her, but an exhaustive Internet search for her bio produced nothing but websites in French (it’s like those French have a different word for everything!) I do know that she is quite well known for her book covers and magazine layouts, but in this case, I’ll just let her art do the talking.

Profiter de l’art de Géraldine Alibeu!

  3. Hi Stephen, Geraldine is a really cool & whimsical artist. Thanks for showcasing her on your blog. Her style makes me think of my sister’s art. You might want to look at her website too:

If you browse those sites using Google Chrome, there’s an option to instantly translate it for you. It’s not often accurate, but if you’ve sat through a few kungfu movies before, you’ll be able to deal with the broken English.

  5. I like the style, very refreshing!

I wanted to learn more about her and did find this little blurb. Being you mentioned you couldn’t really find much, I thought I’d place the blurb here. Hope that’s OK! “Born in Echirolles, Geraldine Alibeu is a young artist of truly singular style. Handyman child, she began very early to get excited about the images. At school, she created the adventures of her teacher in comics. Later, she received her degree of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg in the illustration workshop. … she attended the school of the Powder in Valencia, where she discovered animation. It will give life to two films since her debut album, this artist, animated by curiosity, continues to exploit the full potential of the art … she signed a dozen albums, published by several publishers. They include ‘What Is My Color?’ ‘We Do Not Like Cats,’ ‘Little Red Riding Hood Has Concerns,’ ‘The Sleigh Ride’ and ‘The Mariguita and Soup of Paradise …'”
