While not as famous as the Golden Gate Bridge or the Transamerica Pyramid, Coit Tower has nonetheless been a major San Francisco landmark since it was built in 1938. Visit the tower and you’re offered amazing sweeping vista views of the entire city, the bay, and yes, the Golden Gate Bridge. The pic above was taken last year on the tenth anniversary of 9/11. The pic below is the tower by day, standing tall on it’s Telegraph Hill perch, looking down on the neighborhoods of North Beach and Chinatown below.
I love the view from up there.
Hey Ricky! Thanks for stopping by. Yep, that’s a sweet view … one of the best in the city, if you ask me.
At night the tower looks like a lighthouse and I love and collect lighthouses. This is a great selections of photos for the challenge.
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
When I first saw Coit Tower I thought it was a lighthouse too. It’s always lit up at night, so it does serve as a beacon of sorts.
I just have to say… when I first glanced at the headline I read coitus tower. Read into that statement as you will!
funny … and i’m reading!!! well, it is rather phallic …
Indeed! But I only noticed that afterwards… I thought it was going to be more of a “That’s where Steve lost his virginity” story! Hahaha!
hey drew … you’re going to have to pay for my subscription service if you want to read that sordid little story (freebie: it happened in my hometown of Philadelphia, not San Francisco).
What a great landmark. I’m sure that the view from the tower is awesome.
I think it’s one of the best views in all the city. you pretty much get an entire panorama of the city of San Francisco and the surrounding areas. Really awesome!
thanks for the Coit Tower looking over China Town by night …
hi frizz … it’s even cooler when you’re at the tower looking down. seeing the neighborhoods in the rolling san francisco hills is really impressive.
