It’s back to Hong Kong’s Lantau Island and the shrine of the Big Buddha for this week’s Travel Theme. These stone deities are silhouetted against the afternoon backlight on a foggy day.

What an incredible picture captured in the fog like that!
Hi Roseann, and thanks for visiting. This is one of my favorite shots. Glad you like it!

Have spent wonderful times on Lantau Island and hiking down to Silvermine Bay from the top of the peak. Great picture.
Hey there Kongo. Yah, it’s a pretty amazing place. As you can see, the fog was pretty thick on the day of my visit (made this San Franciscan feel right at home). But it only added to the mysticism. I didn’t hike; I took the glass bottom cable car up the mountain. That was pretty interesting in the fog; things seemed to appear out of nowhere.
Beauty, dignity and mystery. Beautiful shot!
thanks!

I like the shades of grey in this shot…great tonal quality!
thanks! funny, I tried making it monochrome in photoshop, but there was very little difference.
Absolutely gorgeous, Stephen, terribly mystical. I can almost feel the damp fog. Wonderful shot.
Thanks, Ailsa! It’s a really mystical, spiritual place anyway, but the fog made it downright intense.
In a good way, of course.
very cool!
thanks for that, and thanks for dropping by!
the fog really adds dimension to these guys
Thanks Jo. It really added to the atmosphere, that’s for sure.
There is a mystical aura in the image.
