When it comes to absolutely fresh seafood — like from the ocean to the table in an
hour — nothing beats the Sydney Fish Market, especially if you’re looking for gross
stuff like cleaned baby octopus or anything else with tentacles … ewwwwwww!!!!!

fresh seafood… the only way to buy and serve them… fresh.
hi seeker … and thanks for visiting! I know, right? it’s all about the freshness.
Right! I don’t eat frozen seafood.
Not quite what you see in the supermarkets here. Definitely more choice at this fish market.
Hi Colline … I know!!! We have nothing like this kind of fish market in San Francisco. This place was seafood nirvana!
I was going to head to a fish market if I didn’t get out of bed in time to make it to the farmer’s market.
Hi fojap … and thanks for dropping by. lol … how did that work out for you?
I got there about ten minutes before they started cleaning up.

nice!!!
The Sydney Fish Market! So many good memories!!! There was a mussel fair when I went with a friend and they were the BEST mussels I have ever tasted. Thanks for taking me back to it. 🙂
Hi Lidia … and thanks for dropping by!
I love it there, even if I can’t take anything home. One of the places has an outdoor grill that does up kebab skewers of barramundi or salmon … or both! Best five bucks I ever spend … well, more like twenty bucks, after all was said and done!
Just wonderful …. never seen a fish market like that before … so plentiful – even if Pikes Market in Seattle is excellent when it’s about fish and seafood. Wonderful photos, Stephen. My favorite too – crayfish.
Hi Viveka … same here … this is definitely a big fish market. with the exception of Tokyo, it’s the biggest and best I’ve been in. We have nothing like this in SF.
Tokyo … how interesting, but they eat a lot of fish and seafood. I was only into shopping when the few days I was in Tokyo. I would love to go back.
I really miss the Sydney markets
Hi Jo … me, too. I also love the weekend Paddington and The Rocks markets.
どれも新鮮でいいね
great photos, but I can’t help but wonder what you took home for dinner… Was it the baby Octopus?
Hi Lily … and thanks for dropping by.
Oh, good lord, no!!! I have what some might call an irrational fear of tentacles!!! even looking at that pic gets me nervous and queasy!

Hi Vonn … thanks for dropping by.
I’d live in Sydney, if I could.

Great photos, by the way
Hi Tania … and thanks for dropping by!
hahaha! How do you like that? it IS the same place. Just goes to show that great minds think alike! 🙂
I like your blog!
What a delicious food. 😀

Love the photograph of the trout!

Very cool and down-to-earth, I mean down-to-the sea!
Wow! This is so yummy! I love fish markets and just found your blog looking for the “fish market” tag. Coincidence or not, today I posted a picture on the same Weekly Photo Challenge about, guess what… Fish! Haha! Nice blog here 🙂
