It’s been a while since I posted anything about street art in San Francisco, or street art in general, for that matter … in fact, it was was back in June of last year when I posted San Francisco Street Art, Volume 1. At the time I promised that there would be more to come quickly, and, well, there ya go … eight months slip on by.
In that time, though, the annals have grown exponentially, and it’s high time to reopen the vaults. Besides, what’s the sense of taking all those pics of awesome street art if I don’t share them? So here, for your viewing pleasure, is San Francisco Street Art, Volume 2! Most of the more popular street art haunts from Volume 1 are here, and you’ll recognize names like the Tenderloin, the Mission, Valencia Street and Lower Haight, neighborhoods where some of the more challenging, interesting street art is in full bloom and typically ever-changing.
Most of these pics were taken between 2012 and now with a variety of cameras. I’d like to say this new gallery of SF street art pics will act as an inspirational springboard into a rapid posting of a Volume 3, but I’m not promising anything.
So check out the gallery after the jump … and enjoy!
OMG, these are freaking awesome! The doll heads, what!! Amazing work you’ve shot.
Thanks, Impybat … there’s some weird, wild stuff here.
Yah … the doll heads are trippy. As they spin in the breeze, it seems like each one of the little heads is looking directly at you. Freaky!
Wow! What an amazing collection of these amazing street arts!
Thanks, Amy … I hope to post a Volume 3 very soon.
Stunning gallery Stephen!
Thanks, Madhu … actually it was your excellent Juxtaposition shot from last week that inspired me to finally get this gallery up and running!
Just like I imaging SF – colorful and vibrant … Belfast is the same – they have their murals from the “war”, beautiful art – but then there is loads of this fantastic new street art … just wonderful. Fantastic gallery here. My pick is the green and pink face – some Japanese characters … I think.
Hi viveka … my goal is to check out the street art in some european cities. the europeans often do things on a very large scale, although they do a good job of going big here in SF!
I love the street art and UK has some fantastic artists. Looking forward to more of your finds.
traveling to SF in June. Would like to get some SF street art photos. Can you give me a few locations in the city of some of the more spectacular areas?
